I know that it makes no sense to let the weather affect your mood, but sometimes I just can't help it. I live in an area where we usually have a cold winter and I hate cold and snow. Often, I daydream about moving to a nice warm, sunny island. It would really be paradise to wake up every morning to sunshine, palm trees, the sound of birds singing and the sweet fragrance of blooming flowers. Instead, this morning I woke up to see that is was 11 degrees outside and the kitchen was only 66 degrees inside even though the thermostat is set at 70. Ah, well, such is the reality of life. One of the things I love to do when I start feeling down because of the weather is to browse the internet and look for the ideal tropical paradise. Sometimes my browsing goes astray and I end up at some strange or interesting site. Decided it was time to visit an old friend whos recently bought a country pub, its a few hours drive from here and I guess weve been a bit slack not visiting sooner. I have this friend of whom I do really enjoy being around. But he thinks he's like the smartest person on the planet - Literally. I mean, this guy thinks his some sort of Einstein, but even though he's had a PC for the last 10 years, he still doesn't know how to do some simple tasks on his computer. I went to the store the other day and really saw something strange. There was this lady that parked in the han dicapped parking space, but she did not hav e a handicapped sticker or license plate. Computers can be so frustrating! I only asked it to show me a few web pages, but I had to wait while the hard drive churned away for what seemed like ages. That couldn't be right. This is a great script, the price is right, and it works for everyone else - except me. Bummer, I thought and got in touch with the owner. He got right back to me with suggestions and questions. We went back and forth for a while, and since he couldn't figure out what was wrong, he put me in touch with his programmer directly. Now I ask you, has anyone ever done that for you with a piece of software you bought? The programmer got right back to me, and guess what, he is writing a program that will enable him to see just what is going on, and why it won't work for me. Then he'll tweak the script so that it will work for me, if at all possble. An the guy even apologetically said that it may take a couple of days! Folks, I have to tell you, that kind of thing is just about unheard of. And you know what? These guys will have a customer for life. Just had to share something good with you, so you can see that great service is not dead on the internet. I was sad to hear about the death of Don Knotts, the comedian and actor. His silly character, Deputy Barney Fife brought many chuckles in our household. What a day it's been and it's only 1:30 p.m. Yikes! The day started out with lots of snow falling. My son soon annouces that all schools are closed. Of course I started thinking maybe I should just take the day off and not fight the commute. But what if everyone, including my boss, makes to the office with no problems? I would look pretty foolish. So, I get dressed, drive to the park-and-ride, and catch the bus. Four hours later I make it to my desk. Yes, FOUR HOURS! I just started thinking how technology is advancing at such a rapid pace. Just a couple short years ago nothing we take for granted today would have been possible. What got me to thinking about this? It's very frustrating when you purchase something and it doesn't come with good instructions. Then you pretty much have to use trial and error to get it to work. Sometimes you have to spend a lot of time contacting support (if the company has good support), and then they tell you what you should have done ... which wasn't in the instructions ... but should have been. Sometimes you keep getting the same errors over and over, and no one can tell you why or help you fix them. You can waste literally days and weeks on these sorts of problems. Birds are twittering outside with a nice gentle breeze. Sun will set in an hour and I wish I could prolong the light for 3 more hours, as it has been too short of a day. It is still a few more weeks before the days are the longest, and I really love it then. Computers can be so frustrating! I only asked it to show me a few web pages, but I had to wait while the hard drive churned away for what seemed like ages. That couldn't be right. I wanted to do my search on liposuction message board immediately, not the next day. Someone once told me to do a thing called a 'three-finger salute' if my computer causes problems. So I pressed ctrl-alt-delete together, and it turned out that my browser was using over 200 megabytes of memory! I moved to my laptop and did a search on 'Firefox memory'. Seems there is a known problem. With the instructions I found I was able to sort it out.

I've been thinking how important it is to wean yourself away from a 9 to 5 job. There is just too much insecurity in any job today. Even if you've been with the company for years, things change. You could be out of a job through no fault of your own. Start researching a subject that interests you on the internet..maybe vinyl pool vacuum or another topic. Then see how you can start a small online business on that subject...maybe write an ebook or join an affiliate program. It's a good insurance policy against the uncertainty of the job market.

Im having too much fun. My whole life has changed this week. I went to a Chamber mixer last night and talked to 28 people face to face. Before, I used to be terrified of aarp car discount rental. I wouldnt have gone for fear that someone would ask me what I do and Id trip over my answer. I also called all 55 people to whom I had sent flyers for a meeting, and talked to 30. I wouldnt have done that before. Plus I made 38 calls to catalog people and spoke to 20. Of all the 78 people I talked to, I revived 6 dead people, made 18 program sales instead of single bottles, and sold two air units. My sales went up almost $1,000 this week.

Okay, so I speak to this one friend of mine who usually has not much to talk about unless it is about his relationships with women. Now, it would be one thing if they were interesting relationships, but they are not. And this most recent relationship, I've told him for over 7 years to get away from this one girl. Now he's on his way to get engaged to this gal. I just don't get it. But even better yet... right after my friend got back from being online searching for winsor pilates bei, he picks up the phone, calls me and proceeds to speak with my wife instead and tells her that he just came back from an appointment with a marriage counselor. He told my wife that what the counselor said are exactly the reasons I've been saying for him to leave her. My wife even verified to without me saying a thing. Maybe he does not really need a friend to seek advise and confide in, rather, he needs a really good therapist.

How could ABC cancel ALIAS? What were they thinking? Just the best spy show ever on tv and they kill it. Then they have nerve to jerk the final episodes around and cut off about 5 shows that were supposed to be done this season. Grrr! I just got back from a couple weeks spent working out of town - I mean 'way out of town'! We were in the middle of nowhere, with gloomy evergreens covered in new-fallen snow surrounding us. After our fairly warm winter so far, we had been lulled into a false sense of security and of course a rude awakening was bound to come our way. Well Wednesday night it hit us - about 35 below, and suddenly we were back in a real winter. Hard on the vehicles and even harder on the guys working outside all night. But righands don't quit, and 35 below weather won't stop them. They just kept on slogging away in the cold, barely visible in the ice fog hovering in the Arctic air.
